How to Create a Voiceover Audio File

AdPipe's AI Voiceover tool lets you generate professional narration directly in the editor. This guide walks you through a quick workflow to produce a clean voiceover audio file you can use anywhere.

Step 1: Create a Black Video

Because AdPipe is a video platform, your voiceover needs a video to pair with. The black video acts as a neutral base you can layer under other clips whenever you need it.

  1. Log in to AdPipe and open the editor.
  2. Create a new project.
    1. A new project starts with a black background by default. No need to add clips or a shape.

Step 2: Add Your Voiceover

With your black video in place, you can generate and attach your voiceover directly from the editor.

  • In the editor, add the Voiceover element under Canvas Settings.
  • Type, paste, or use AI Scriptwriter to generate your script in the text field.
  • Preview the available voices and select the one that fits your content.
  • Play it back, adjust your script if needed, and regenerate until you're happy with the result.
  • Press Generate. Your voiceover will automatically appear on the timeline.

Tip: You can edit your script and regenerate the voiceover as many times as needed before downloading.

Step 3: Download Your File

Once your voiceover is ready, download the project from AdPipe. The file will export as an .mp4 containing your black video with the narration audio track embedded.

  • When your voiceover is final, click Generate and your black video asset with the VO overlay will appear in the asset library.
  • Click the Download button on the asset.
  • Save the exported .mp4 file to your computer.

Step 4: Convert to MP3 (Optional)

If you need a standalone audio file, such as an .mp3 for a podcast, e-learning platform, or audio asset library, you can extract the audio from your downloaded .mp4 using a free conversion tool.

A few tools that work well for this:

  • CloudConvert (cloudconvert.com) — browser-based, no install needed.
  • Adobe Express Audio Converter — straightforward MP4-to-MP3 conversion.
  • Online-Convert.com — supports multiple output formats including WAV and AAC.

General conversion steps (these vary slightly by tool):

  1. Open your chosen conversion tool in a browser.
  2. Upload your .mp4 file.
  3. Select MP3 (or your preferred audio format) as the output.
  4. Convert and download your audio file.

Note: AdPipe does not natively export audio-only files. The MP4-to-MP3 conversion step happens outside of AdPipe using a third-party tool of your choice.
